Buried by ash in the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, Pompeii today offers one of the most well-preserved archaeological ruins to explore. Remarkable structures still remain, many with amazing details and markings. Examples of mosaic floors, baths and temples may be seen. Enjoy a breathtaking look through the centuries as you step back into antiquity. See the Forum, the heart of the ancient city, surrounded by imposing temples and gorgeous residences. Stroll down one of the many streets and see the former retail shops, villas and schools that existed. See the amphitheatre where gladiators once battled. Admire countless wall paintings and frescoes that once decorated wealthy patrician mansions. Time may be allocated to visit a cameo carver’s workshop, where local artisans can be seen at work in their centuries-old tradition.

• Comfortable walking shoes recommended. It is recommended to wear sunglasses and sunhats during summer months as it gets quite hot.

• Restrictions: Pompeii Archaeological Site closed on January 01, May 01 and December 25. The first Sunday of each month availability has to be confirmed due to specials event that could be organized in the museum.
