CONTENT

Visit the Basilica of St. John in Lateran, the cathedral of Rome and of the world, famous for its Baroque and medieval masterpieces. Ascend the Holy Stairs, twenty-eight white marble steps encased by wooden steps. Pass through the Porta di San Sebastiano and arrive on the Ancient Appian Way. Explore the Chapel of ‘Domine Quo Vadis’ where St. Peter supposedly met Jesus while the former was fleeing persecution in Rome.
Enter the galleries of the Basilica di San Sebastiano fuori le mura, rebuilt in the seventeeth century by Ponzio and Vasanzio. Inside the church are three side arches and the statue of Saint Sebastian sculpted by Antonio Giorgetti.
Continue on the Ancient Appian Way to the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella and the view of Caracalla Baths.
