The town of Monreale was built by the Norman people in the 11th century,to get a break from the wars and relax in this area, close to Palermo. The Cathedral of Monreale is one of the greatest examples of Norman architecture in the world. The metropolitan cathedral is enlightened by magnificent bizantine mosaics shining with gold, telling the history of Christianity through scenes from the Old and New Testaments. Marvel at the beautiful marble carvings of Roano Chapel that encloses the Dome Treasure and conclude your tour along the galleries of the Cloister.
